Crestone Peaks
Ink sketches are how I capture the mountain landscape surrounding the San Luis Valley in Southern Colorado. I almost always have my watercolor pad and ink bottle with me, and I often take the whole kit hiking with me to draw on the trail.
This piece is an indigo acrylic ink drawing that invites tranquility and calm. Rendered in ink on 300 gsm watercolor paper, the artwork shows a serene mountainous landscape in shades of blue.
Dark blue accents hint at rugged terrain and foliage, while rolling hills and softly outlined mountains in the midground create a sense of depth and distance. The fluid lines and minimalism create a sense of simplicity and peace.
Inspired by the Sangre de Cristo mountain range, this sketch conveys the majestic beauty of the 14,000-foot peaks surrounding the San Luis Valley.
Sangre de Cristo #1 arrives neatly framed in either a black or white wood frame that is wired and ready to hang.
